Open Water Swim Season 2025 – ready to dive in?

This is now my 5th year of being ‘Outdoor Swim Coach’ since completing my qualification in 2020. If you’d like to master wild swimming, or sea swimming or open water swimming – whatever you’d like to call it – you’re in the right place.

As an experienced open water swim coach, I’m available to guide you through the joys and challenges of swimming in the outdoors. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned swimmer, I’ll tailor my coaching to suit your needs.

Open Water Swim Locations

Sessions are available in Teignmouth, Coryton, Dawlish, and Torquay – beautiful spots to enjoy the sea while improving your skills

Heads-Down Front Crawl – 5 week courses

In a small group of 4 – 8 people we learn the basics of heads-down front crawl in 5 or 6 weekly session. This is a popular fun course where we work through the elements of position, breath and propulsion. You’ll grow in confidence, swim efficiently and probably end up wanting to swim all the time! It’s a bit addictive. These courses usually take place on a Friday evening and a Saturday or Sunday morning. If you’re interested, drop me a line! I’ll post when I have the dates agreed.

1:1 and 1:2 Coaching:

These sessions are my most popular and offer you my full attention. We work on your specific needs to your pace. Quite often this is a good starting place if you are at all worried about sea swimming. I offer private and small group sessions throughout the season. No specialist kit is required, I can lend you most things. You’ll need a costume and a towel. Send me a message and let me know your goals.

Sea Swim Club:

If you’ve swum with me before and would like to swim regularly, you’re welcome to join our Sea Swim Club – a community of regular swimmers who meet weekly. Ask me for details! At the moment these are:

  • Wednesdays, 1-2pm
  • Saturdays, 9-10am

Corporate Activity Session:

Treat your team to a unique and refreshing activity! I offer tailored corporate swim sessions in Teignmouth, Coryton or Dawlish, perfect for boosting teamwork, confidence, and well-being. Whether your group are beginners or experienced swimmers, we’ll focus on skill-building, communication, and fun in the water. A memorable way to foster camaraderie and reduce stress – let’s make your next event unforgettable!

Specialist Sessions:

I’m excited to offer:

  • Parent and ASD Child Swimming Sessions – A safe and supportive environment for families.
  • Perimenopause Swimming Group – If this is something you’re interested in joining, do let me know!

These sessions are relaxed and supportive, focusing on skill-building, technique, and swimming at your own pace. On average, we’ll cover 500m to 1k, and each session will leave you with something to practice in your own time. If you’re interested drop me an email.

Supporting and extras!

  • Event Preparation: Signed up for a swim event and feeling nervous? I can help with efficiency and advice sessions to prepare you – whether you’re solo or part of a small group. Confidence, knowledge, and practice will make your swim experience much more enjoyable.
  • Gift Vouchers: Looking for the perfect gift? I offer open water swim vouchers starting from £50. Treat someone special to the joy of swimming in the sea!

Got Questions?

If there’s something specific you’d like to ask or discuss, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to support your open water swimming journey.

Let’s make 2025 your best swimming year yet!

  1. Hi Karen, brilliant newsletter. I’d be up for the heads down 5 week course. Might not be able to consistently do a friday evening or sat am, but probably most.
