Step In: Coaching That Walks, Talks, and Dips

My outdoor coaching sessions blend walking, talking, and wild sea dipping along the Teignbridge, Devon coast — a nature-based approach to resetting your mind and reconnecting with yourself.

Sometimes you need space.
Space to breathe.
To think.
To talk things through, differently.

This isn’t your average coaching session. It’s a gentle mix of walking, talking, and wild dipping or swimming in the sea, guided by the tides, the weather, and your needs.

And just to be clear: this isn’t about swimming (though it could be for you!)

It’s about getting in the sea and trying something new.
It’s about stepping into the unknown, feeling the cold, the thrill, the shift.
For some, it might mean facing a little fear and finding out what’s on the other side of it.

We walk to get grounded.
We talk to explore.
We dip or swim to reconnect to joy, to courage, to your old self or your next chapter.

Why Outdoor Coaching

Whether you’re at a personal crossroads, figuring out your next step, or just craving a space to be heard without judgement, this coaching session offers something different. Something elemental.

I’ve been an open water swim coach since 2020, working with swimmers of all levels to build confidence, connection, and a sense of adventure in the sea. I’m also a qualified CMI coach and mentor, with a deep interest in helping people navigate change, reconnect with what matters, and feel more like themselves again.

🌿 Backed by Nature

The power of nature-based coaching isn’t just personal, it’s backed by evidence:

  • People who spend time near blue spaces (like the sea) report lower stress, better sleep, improved mood, and even immune benefits (Washington Post, 2025VogueUniversity of Brighton).
  • Access to green and blue spaces reduces the risk of anxiety and depression by up to 20%, particularly for people in urban or deprived areas (NIHR Evidence).
  • In the UK alone, the value (to the NHS) of health benefits from outdoor activity in natural environments is estimated at £8.4 billion annually, with over 11.5 million people experiencing measurable wellbeing gains (ONS, 2022).

🌀 Try it out:

Head Clear Session – an opportunity to give something new a go, a chance to reset, reflect and feel the sea shift your perspective. Session last up to two hours.

Or go deeper over time with a package of three: Each session last up to two hours.

Open Water Swimming

After 15 years of just looking at the sea, I finally got it and it is all down to Karen’s approach during the day.

She was so calm, she created an environment for me where I can take the general tension out of my shoulders and back. This alone was really impressive and we weren’t even in the water, we were just talking. Karen listened, no judgement just curiosity and time become a not present factor anymore.

Then we went in the water and I was in there for 20 minutes and swimming. I am a good swimmer, but the cold water and the size of the sea always made me afraid of it.

The way Karen refocused my attention helped me not to panic and enjoy the water. She was pointing out things, like birds, fun facts and I found this really helpful.

If you are anything like me, always on the go, not having time for yourself, I highly recommend these sessions. This is a great investment in your health and wellbeing to reset and focus just on yourself for 2 hours.
