I am a qualified Open Water Swimming Coach. I love swimming in the sea. Open water swimming makes me happy and has enabled me to get fitter both mentally and physically. It takes me further than I thought possible in all sorts of ways and I’ve made many new friends to boot.
Karen Marshall – Open Water Swim Coach

I want more people to swim in the sea, to feel the sense of strength, freedom and joy I feel.
About me
My swimming goals have changed over time. I was a lake-dipper, then an up-and-down-pool-sprinter then I became the mum-standing-in-the-shallow-end-shivering-not-swimming swimmer! A few years ago I took the plunge and joined a group of wild swimmers. We swam each week in the sea together, sucking up the dropping temperatures with delight. Summer turned Autumn, Autumn turned Winter … we kept on swimming, in just our cossies, to see if we could do it. We could. We became friends and cold water swimmers and loved it.
I am still a ‘skins’ swimmer (without wetsuit) but am now furnished with one so I can stay in the water longer to work on distance or technique throughout the year.
There are so many people who could and should embrace open water swimming. It’s a revelation and a liberation!
I can help you with:
- Cold water acclimatisation
- Gaining open water confidence
- Improving your technique
- Learning heads-down front crawl
- Reaching swim goals
- Open water swim skills

If you would like to find out more, or book a session, drop me line.
